Yazbukey
Yazbukey has been created by two sisters: Yaz & Emel, Ottoman princesses and descendants of Mehmet Ali Pasha, King of Egypt, Yaz was born in Istanbul and Emel in Cairo.
After living in different countries, they decided to settle down in Paris : Yaz studied industrial & graphic design, then pursued fashion studies at Studio Berçot. Emel has worked for three seasons at Christian Lacroix with Mrs Ortoli for textile prints. Then she studied at Studio Berçot, where she is teaching today. After several internships at Martin Margiela, Martine Sitbon and Givenchy, Yaz collaborated with Jeremy Scott as his first assistant for two seasons.
After these experiences, they decided to launch an accessory line focusing on beaded leather pieces. After a few collections, the accessory line has been completed by clothes, essentially T-shirts & dresses, followed by shoes (Yazbukey’s hot heels) and dog clothing (Yazbukey’s mini dogs).
The world of Yazbukey describes a very playful universe, inspired by old musicals (Vincent Minelli...) and Gershwin’s music, tales of La Fontaine & Grimm and by cinematic sources from Hitchcock to Tim Burton.
